Mixed Type If Clauses
Her zaman Type 2 ile Type 3 arasında olur.
Hatırlandığı gibi If Clause Type II şu anki durumlarda kullanılmaktadır:
v He is rich so he can buy that car. [A1] (Şimdiki Zaman)
v If he weren’t rich he couldn’t buy that car.[A2]
If Clause Type III geçmiş durumlarda kullanılmaktadır:
v I didn’t study so I failed.[A3] (Geçmiş zaman)
v If I had studied I wouldn’t have failed.[A4]
Mixed Type ise şimdiki ve geçmiş zamanın beraber kullanıldığı cümlelerde kullanılmaktadır:
I didn’t eat (geçmiş zaman) breakfast so I am hungry now (şimdiki zaman) now.[A5]
Type III Type II
If I had eaten breakfast I wouldn’t be hungry now[A6] .
Burada önemli olan “if” alacak cümleyi yani şart cümlesini belirlemektir.
He is a lazy student so he didn’t do his homework.[A7]
“If” yapısını ilk cümle alır. Dolayısıyla:
If he weren’t a lazy student he would have done his homework[A8] .
v The room is cold now because you left the window open.[A9]
The room wouldn’t be cold now if you hadn’t left the window open.[A10]
v He is a rude person so he told me bad words.[A11]
If he weren’t a rude person he wouldn’t have told me bad words.[A12]
Genelde zaman zarfları yardımcı olur
v If we had built a subway system 10 years ago the traffic would not be so bad today.[A13]
v If I had passed my exam last year I would not have to follow this course now[A14] .
v If she were your real friend she would have helped you yesterday.[A15]
